Prime Video used its San Diego Comic-Con panel this week to put a firmer spotlight on a release date it had already locked in back in May:Season 3 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is set to return on November 11, according to TVLine. The Hall H appearance came with a new teaser trailer and confirmation that the season will roll out in three separate drops rather than all at once.

The first four episodes arrive on launch day, with episodes five and six following on November 18, and the final two closing out the season on November 25, according to Give Me My Remote. Filming on the season wrapped in December 2025, a comparatively tight turnaround that had some fans bracing for an early-2027 release instead, according to TechRadar.

    Where the Story Picks Up

Season 3 jumps forward roughly five years from the fall of Eregion at the end of Season 2, dropping viewers into the height of the war between Sauron and the Elves, according to Seat42F. Inside a newly finished Barad-dûr, Sauron is consumed with forging the One Ring, an act that threatens to bind every free people of Middle-earth to his will. Khazad-dûm remains sealed beneath the mountains, while Lindon and Rivendell continue to hold out, protected by the power of the Three Elven Rings, according to TechRadar.

Returning cast members include Morfydd Clark as Galadriel, Robert Aramayo as Elrond, Charlie Vickers as Sauron, and Ismael Cruz Córdova as Arondir, joined by newcomers Jamie Campbell Bower as Celeborn and Simon Pegg voicing the Balrog, according to AboutAmazon. Showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay return alongside executive producers Lindsey Weber, Justin Doble, Kate Hazell, and Charlotte Brändström, who also directs multiple episodes this season.

A Franchise Amazon Keeps Leaning On

Prime Video has repeatedly pointed to “Rings of Power” as one of its most important original titles. Season 1 remains the platform’s biggest TV series premiere ever, and Season 2 ranks among its top five most-watched returning seasons, with the series drawing more than 185 million viewers worldwide across its run, according to Amazon MGM Studios’ official announcement.Peter Friedlander, Amazon MGM Studios’ head of global television, stated that the series captures the grand scale, ambition, and cinematic style that define Prime Video’s major global productions, according to the same release.

Season 2’s performance backs that framing up: it debuted as Nielsen’s number one original series and stayed in the streaming chart’s top four for its entire run, according to Collider. Both previous seasons currently hold Certified Fresh scores on Rotten Tomatoes.

With the November date now reinforced by a Comic-Con teaser and a confirmed three-part rollout, “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” Season 3 premieres November 11, 2026, available only on Prime Video across more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
