Spider-Man: Brand New Day Everything We Know Ahead of Release

Hanry DawsonBy Hanry DawsonJuly 20, 2026 Screen Daily Voice

Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters on July 31, 2026, marking Tom Holland‘s fourth solo outing as Peter Parker and the first Spider-Man film directed by Destin Daniel Cretton. With the film’s trailers already breaking viewing records, here’s a full breakdown of everything confirmed so far — cast, plot setup, and the biggest reveals from the marketing so far.

    Cast and Crew

Holland returns alongside Zendaya as MJ and Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, reprising their roles from the previous trilogy. The movie expands the MCU’s Spider-Man universe with several major cast additions, including Jon Bernthal as the Punisher, Mark Ruffalo returning as the Hulk, Michael Mando reprising his role as Scorpion, Sadie Sink in a secret role, and Tramell Tillman playing Department of Damage Control head William “Bill” Metzger according to ScreenRant. Cretton, who previously directed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, said at CinemaCon that the film centers on how “the hero behind the mask wasn’t so different from” an ordinary person, per AOL/Marvel.

The Setup: Picking Up After ‘No Way Home’

The story continues directly from the ending of Spider-Man: No Way Home, in which Doctor Strange’s spell erased the world’s memory of Peter Parker, including MJ and Ned. As Looper details, the first trailer opens with Peter watching old footage of Ned and MJ, both now unaware he ever existed, while Peter himself narrates a letter he wrote but never gave to MJ explaining the spell. The official synopsis confirms Peter is trying to leave Spider-Man behind to focus on college, but is pulled back into action when a new threat endangers the people he loves.

    Biggest Trailer Reveals So Far

According to ScreenRant’s full trailer breakdown, the footage confirms Spider-Man receiving a key to the city on television, watched by MJ and Ned, and features a major action sequence in which Bernthal‘s Punisher clashes with Peter before getting webbed up mid-fight. A second trailer, broken down separately by ScreenRant, confirmed Tillman‘s character as Bill Metzger and revealed that Sink‘s hooded, mind-controlling character is the one threat Spider-Man alone seems able to sense — fueling widespread fan speculation that she’s playing a version of Jean Grey, though this hasn’t been officially confirmed by Marvel or Sony.

    Record-Breaking Trailer Numbers

The marketing rollout has been unusually massive by Sony’s own account. The first trailer, released March 18, 2026, drew 718.6 million views in its first 24 hours and surpassed 1.1 billion views within four days, according to figures reported by Lower Bucks Times, putting it among the most-watched movie trailers ever released.

Where It Fits in the Larger MCU

Spider-Man: Brand New Day was originally positioned between the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, but Sony has since said it will instead arrive before both films conclude the Multiverse Saga. Producer Amy Pascal has indicated the film is intended to launch a new trilogy for Peter, according to Rotten Tomatoes’ editorial team, though it remains unclear exactly how directly the story will tie into the two Avengers films releasing around it.

No Reviews Yet — Here’s When to Expect Them

As of this writing, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has not yet screened for critics, and no reviews have been published. Embargoes for major Marvel releases typically lift within a week of theatrical release, meaning the first reactions and reviews are expected to surface in the final days before the July 31 premiere.
