Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios have officially released the final trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, confirming the film’s exclusive theatrical release on July 31, 2026 — just over a week away. The trailer went live online today after first premiering in theaters ahead of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, where a partial cam recording of it had already leaked online in the days beforehand.
What the Trailer Shows
The roughly two-and-a-half-minute trailer opens with a lengthy look back at Tom Holland’s run as Peter Parker, revisiting the ending of Spider-Man: No Way Home, when Peter had Doctor Strange wipe everyone’s memory of him in order to protect the multiverse. From there it moves into new footage: a street-level fight with Michael Mando’s Scorpion, and an extended battle between Spider-Man and an out-of-control Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) on top of a New York skyscraper. The identity of the film’s main antagonist is still being withheld, described only as a danger that most people around Peter can’t even perceive.
The Story So Far
Peter is now working as Spider-Man full-time in a city that no longer knows his name, and having to watch his old friends move forward without him. According to the official studio synopsis, that isolation pushes Peter toward a shift he may struggle to keep in check — one that could end up being the only way to counter the story’s hidden new threat. Coverage of the footage also points to Peter’s own powers evolving beyond the previous films, with glimpses of organic webbing and altered eyes. Jon Bernthal’s Punisher appears to team up with Spider-Man at some point in the story, while Sadie Sink’s role in the film has still not been revealed.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, taking over from Jon Watts, who directed Holland’s first three solo Spider-Man films. Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers wrote the screenplay, based on the Marvel character created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Kevin Feige, Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, and Rachel O’Connor produce, with Louis D’Esposito and David Cain serving as executive producers.

This is the third trailer Sony has released for the film, and the campaign has already set benchmarks: the first trailer reportedly pulled in 718 million views in its opening 24 hours and passed 1 billion views within four days, making it one of the biggest movie-trailer debuts on record. Sony chairman Tom Rothman has publicly called the film one of the studio’s biggest productions and pointed to Holland’s performance as among his best work in the role.
Where It Fits in the Marvel Timeline
Brand New Day is Holland’s fourth solo outing as Spider-Man and picks up directly from No Way Home rather than rebooting the character. Reporting on the new footage suggests the story is set before Avengers: Doomsday, the ensemble film arriving later this year in December, positioning Brand New Day as a bridge into Marvel’s next round of team-up movies.
